Watkins College is the beneficiary of an exceptionally generous donation from Nashville art patron, Dr. Mary Schatz.
More than 50 pieces from the collection of Mary and her late husband, Walter Schatz, a longtime Watkins trustee, will be available for purchase, through a silent auction, November 15-17, 2018. The pieces on auction represent a wide range of investment levels, making the show accessible and affordable to the beginner, amateur, or experienced collector. You can find the list of works and their appraised values here.
Work from artists—including Kit Reuther, Paul Harmon, William Joseph Seigenthaler, Adrian Deckbar, DeLoss McGraw, and Douglas Percy Bliss—will be on display at the Brownlee O. Currey, Jr. Gallery on the Watkins campus during the following times:
- Thursday, November 15: The sale opens and bidding begins at 1:00 p.m. The bidding closes at 5 p.m.
- Friday, November 16: The sale begins at 9 a.m. and will remain open all day with a wine and cheese reception from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The bidding closes at 7 p.m.
- Saturday, November 17: The sale begins at 9 a.m. Bidding ends at 2:00 p.m. and the sale closes.
All proceeds will benefit Watkins College of Art. This is a wonderful opportunity to make a purchase from the extraordinary Schatz Collection, just in time for the holidays, while also supporting the emerging artists at Watkins.
