Housing & Residential Life
Beginning in Fall 2020, Watkins College of Art will merge with Belmont University to become Watkins College of Art at Belmont University. The Watkins housing costs for students who apply through Watkins for Fall 2020—and are admitted to Watkins College of Art at Belmont University— will be honored by Belmont University. For students interested in attending Watkins College of Art at Belmont University beyond Fall 2020, the application process, including residential life options, will be conducted by Belmont University.
Save. Simplify. Enrich.
Students who currently live on campus have the benefit of being able to immerse themselves deeply in the Watkins experience. Free from outside distractions or a time-wasting commute, you have additional hours every week to invest in your work and your creative life, to build lifelong bonds with your classmates, and relax in an apartment setting (no dorms here) in the heart of “It” city. Use the gas money you’ll save for more supplies!
Who should live on campus
Living on campus is a great way for new students to adjust to college life. If you are a first-time student under the age of 20 and your permanent address is 50+ miles from campus, you are required to live on campus for one year. If you live within 50 miles of campus, you are not required to live on campus, but we strongly encourage it. If you are a transfer student, housing is available but optional.
Great quality of life
Our two contemporary apartment-style residence halls sit along the lake adjacent to the main academic building. How roommates are assigned
When you sign a housing contract for residence at Watkins, we’ll send you a roommate questionnaire so that you can describe your habits and interests. Then, we can make every effort to match you up with compatible roommates. We do a room shuffle about two weeks into the semester to account for any needed changes.
We don’t offer a meal plan at Watkins, but each apartment in the residence halls includes a full kitchen with all appliances. Buns on the Run Caf´— readily accessible on campus while school is in session — serves breakfast and lunch Monday through Thursday. Other Nashville restaurants are walking distance or an easy drive away.
