Assistant Professor: Graphic Design/Interactive Web Design
Watkins College of Art seeks applicants for a full-time position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Graphic Design/Interactive Web Design, beginning August 2019. The preferred candidate will teach three undergraduate courses per semester in a variety of graphic design areas, including web design, application design, Information Design – IA/UI/UX. Responsibilities also include academic advising, curriculum development, and service to the college and community.
Located in Nashville, Tennessee, Watkins is dedicated to Film, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Illustration, Interior Design, and Photography. Graphic Design & Illustration are the college’s largest departments and prepares students for careers in visual communications through client and community-focused projects, internships, and participation in adjudicated student design competitions.

Applicants must have at time of application: Terminal degree in graphic design or related field or minimum of five years equivalent professional experience; At least two years of successful university-level teaching experience (or equivalent); An active professional design career evidenced by creative work and/or scholarship; Proficiency with the tools of contemporary design production and instruction; Expertise in contemporary graphic design issues and practices with an additional area of focus, such as UI/UX, data visualization, information architecture, motion graphics or other design-related practices.
