Participants will view stop motion short films, create flipbooks as a warm-up, and dive into creating a stop motion film based on a big idea of their choice using drawing, modeling clay, puppetry, objects from life, or a combination of techniques. Participants will then bring images to life in iMovie. The workshop will conclude with each participant sharing his/her stop motion short film with the group and creating an online library of films using YouTube. Register now.

The “City Symphony” is a poetic style of documentary filmmaking created in the 1920s that sought to celebrate the urban environment by capturing its life, rhythm and movement. In this shoestring digital documentary filmmaking course, students will chronicle the sights and sounds of Nashville from their unique perspectives to create a cinematic portrait of the city. Students should bring a digital recording device that captures video and sound (digital camera, iPhone, Flip video camera, etc.).
