Pre-College Program Details

Pre-CollegeDATES: July 6-24, 2015. The Pre-College Program meets Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am-4:00 pm for three consecutive weeks.

JOIN US: If you are a high school student who has completed your sophomore, junior or senior year and you are between the ages of 15-18.

SUPPLIES: Supplies are included, but Fine Arts students should bring their own portfolio. Photography students will need their own digital camera, USB cord, and portable hard drive.

FACULTY: Our teaching staff includes local artists, professionals, educators, and college faculty.

Watkins BuildingHOUSING: Watkins does not offer an on-campus housing option at this time.

GRADES/CREDIT: Credit for 1 General Education Course (or the equivalent of 3 college credits at most colleges/universities on the semester system) will be awarded for successful completion of the program. Grades will be determined by quizzes, projects and writing assignments.

TUITION/FEES: $1550. Includes materials, T-shirt and transportation for special events.

SCHOLARSHIPS: A limited number of full and partial need-based scholarships are available for the Pre-College Program through a generous grant from The Memorial Foundation. To apply for a scholarship, please provide additional brief explanation of financial need and reasons for seeking a scholarship with a 2014 income tax return with your 2015 application. No additional application is necessary. The scholarship deadline is the same as the application deadline, April 24, 2015. Applicants should contact the Community Education office for more details at (615) 383-4848.

Exhibition PrepEARN A COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP!
If you successfully complete the Pre-College Program and decide to enroll at Watkins, you are eligible for a $4,000 tuition scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded over eight semesters if you maintain a 3.0 GPA. The annual amount will be equally divided between the fall and spring semesters and is based on full-time registration of 12 or more credits per semester. If a student registers for less than 12 credits in a semester, the amount will be pro-rated accordingly.
