Student ARTchive & Student Film Library
The page you requested does not exist. A search for library student artchive resulted in this page.
Watkins College of Art, Design & Film requires that students turn in a sample of their work each semester to import into our searchable institutional digital “ARTchive,” currently under construction. The Visual Resources Standards and Guidelines include everything faculty need to know about getting student work to the Visual Resources Project.
The Visual Resources “ARTchive” database is being created from the MDID application developed at James Madison University. This application allows an art instructor to search for digital images, store their own digital images, create classroom presentations, and set aside images for student study. General information about MDID is available at www.mdid.org/mdidwiki.
How do we get the images? Our wonderful faculty of course
Please see the guidelines in the link above, but basically students will turn in a CD of images to their teacher at the end of the semester. Their teacher will select work for the ARTchive, and make it available for the visual resources staff.
The forms you will need to accompany the images are: the documentation form and the fair use statement

Documenting Days
In an attempt to build our student art database, the library offers two Documenting Days per month. These days allow students from all departments to have access to professional photography and to add these images to their portfolio—we ask students to bring a CD or Flash Drive, fill out the cataloging form, sign a fair use statement and they’re on their way. We will not shoot an entire class’s work — that’s up to the instructor.
Sign up sheets will be available in the library. Check the library’s Facebook Page for dates, times, and location. January’s dates will be available soon.
Please direct any questions you have about the student ARTchive or documenting days to lwilliams@watkins.edu
