Registration is still open for WordCamp Nashville 2012, hosted by Watkins on Saturday, April 21, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m.  The workshop, presented by the WordPress Foundation and local WordPress users, explores WordPress, the free online publishing platforrm and speakers will address issues for beginners, such as setting up their first site, and advanced users, such as using WordPress for e-commerce.

WordCamp Nashville is one of a series of WordCamps held by fans of the software throughout the world.  Tickets are $20 and attendance is limited to 250. Tickets are available through the official WordCamp Nashville website: 2012.nashville.wordcamp.org/tickets/.

New developments will make the day at WordCamp better than it already promised to be:

  • Free muffins from Foxy Baking Co. for the first 150 people who show up to accompany free coffee from Ugly Mugs.  Combined with stylish WordCamp Nashville t-shirts as part of your swag bag and top-notch speakers, 9 a.m. on a Saturday never looked better.
  • Lunch coupons!  WordCamp will help with lunch by providing $5 coupons to one of the participating restaurants close by.  More details to follow. (Rumor mill: one involves BBQ).
  • After Party, beginning at 8 p.m. at Drifters (1008-B Woodland Street): includes free beer from Yazoo, courtesy of MetaCake, and lots of time to socialize.

WordPress powers more than 35 million websites, including many that belong to big, household names, major brands, country music stars and professional athletes. WordPress is open-source software, meaning it is free, and users don’t need to write code to work with it, making it among the most popular and powerful tools available for bloggers as well as companies wanting to make maximum advantage of their online presence.

Check out the WordCamp Nashville 2012 website for more speaker information and tickets; follow @WordCampNash on Twitter for updates throughout the week. The event has tracks for users/beginners and advanced/developers, and some core WordPress developers are among the presenters.
