Jeff Daniel
Silva is an international artist and curator currently based in the US. Silva
studied Cinema and Photography at Ithaca
College and received an MFA in Visual
Art from Vermont College of Fine Arts in Montpelier.
He currently teaches experimental, documentary and ethnographic film studies
and production at Harvard University & the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston.
Silva’s installations, videos and documentary projects tend to challenge the
boundaries and conventions of their form as he works fluidly between the
interstices of art, documentary film and ethnography. Whether Silva is probing
cultural or linguistic spaces, spatial or temporal logic, or exploring ethical
or political concerns, his usage of the moving-image plays a central role in
his corporeal expression and exploration of historical, political and moral ambiguities.
