Opening Reception, Senior Thesis Exhibition Part I of III, featuring Angela Elkins and Nick Stolle

Watkins College of Art, Design and Film invites the public to the first of three Bachelor of Fine Arts Senior Thesis exhibitions for the Spring semester. This exhibition will feature seniors Nick Stolle and Angela Elkins and will open Friday, March 27, from 6-8pm in the Brownlee O. Currey, Jr. Gallery on campus. Future exhibitions will feature the works of Camille Jackson and Justin Patterson, opening on April 10. Erin Plew and Myrna Talbot will close out this series with an exhibition opening April 24. All receptions and exhibitions are free and open to the public.

Nick Stolle’s exhibition is entitled Stagey. According to Stolle, the objects at hand include sculptural installation, works on paper, and video. At the center of this enterprise is a short performance – a collaboration with actors Jack Tobin and Alex Collins. The work concerns the troubling slipperiness of language and the poetics of banal moral posturing. Be real careful all the time.

u.tear.us out by Angela Elkins questions the commonality of hysterectomies in our country today through the use of sculpture, video, and digital images. Through personal connection and bodily disconnection, it asks women to reconnect and respect their natural bodies. For more information about these events, visit www.watkins.edu or call 383.4848.
