Moses Williams Wins Top Prize at Currey Student Show
Moses Williams, a junior Fine Art major, claimed the top honor at the 2012 Currey Student Juried Show for his three-minute video piece, The Violence of Oizys. As recipient of the Anny Gowa Purchase Award, which comes with a $500 cash prize, Williams’ work will be part of the permanent Watkins collection.
A total of eight winners were announced by President Ellen Meyer during a March 20 reception in the Brownlee O. Currey, Jr. Gallery. Students received cash prizes as well as gift certificates courtesy of Plaza Artist Materials and Picture Framing.
Students in all disciplines submitted 132 pieces this year, with 52 selected by the juror, Jessica Wohl, Brown Foundation Fellow and Visiting Assistant Professor of Art at the University of the South.
