Interior Design Recognizes 'Best of Year'

Watkins recognized outstanding work by Interior Design majors during a reception for the 16th Annual Interior Design Student Exhibit on January 25.

Professor and department chair Cheryl Gulley announced the winners in eight design categories and three “Best in Show” selections: Emily Hill with three honors, including first place overall, double honorees Lua Faragher and Erika Thompson, and Kecia Dorrity, Hannah Masterson, Selene Schneider and Whitney Sims.  Submissions were evaluated on craftsmanship, creativity and digital rendering skills.

The jurors for the student show were Watkins alumnae Sannyu Holden, assistant director of facilities planning, State of Tennessee, and Kim Hunter, interior designer, department of general services, State of Tennessee, as well as architect Michael McAllister, AIA, LEED AP, of McAllister/Donelson Architects.

The exhibit, featuring two dozen displays and portfolios created since Spring 2012, opened in the Brownlee O. Currey, Jr. Gallery on January 10, and has been extended through February 3.
