Free Training for K-12 Art Teachers

 

On Friday, January 28, Watkins will host a FREE Teacher In-Service Training for K- 12 art teachers from 8:30am -3pm. The following workshops will be offered:

 

  • Digital Images for Web and Portfolio - Instructors: Shepherd Alligood and David Hellams. Teachers will work in a lighting studio and utilize Photoshop to learn tips and techniques for taking digital photographs, resizing and correcting in Photoshop to prepare them for submission for the web and online portfolios.
  • Printmaking - Instructor: Brady Haston. This workshop will cover the basics of polyester lithography. Participants will learn how to create hand drawn and photomechanical images. Other topics to be covered are printing with color and simple registration techniques.
  • Clay -Instructor: Doug Stevenson. Clay is a great teaching instrument for connecting the arts with other curriculum areas, such as arithmetic, social studies and more! This hands-on workshop will cover four small- and large-scale projects to take back to your classroom. We will make monsters, animals, and masks, as well as boxes and tiles.
