Currey Juried Student Show Runs March 9-21
Awards reception set for Tuesday, March 20
Watkins College of Art, Design & Film presents the 2012 Currey Juried Student Show, featuring outstanding work in fine art, film, graphic design, interior design and photography, from March 9–21 in the Brownlee O. Currey, Jr. Gallery on campus.
A reception and awards presentation will be held on Tuesday, March 20, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
All Watkins students are eligible to submit projects created since Fall 2011, with eight winners – topped by the Currey Purchase Award – announced by President Ellen L. Meyer.
The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.
The student show juror is Jessica Wohl, Brown Foundation Fellow and Visiting Assistant Professor of Art at the University of the South. Originally trained as an illustrator, her current studio practice includes drawing, painting, collage, installation and performance. Wohl holds a BFA from Kansas City Art Institute and an MFA from the University of Georgia, and has studied at Studio Art Centers International in Florence, Italy.
Currey Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m. For more information, visit www.watkins.edu.
