Artists' books show runs through October 20 in Currey Gallery
Winners of the book arts exhibition Familiar Relics were announced during an opening night reception on October 5 in the Brownlee O. Currey, Jr. Gallery at Watkins College of Art, Design & Film.
Staged in association with the second annual Handmade & Bound Nashville book arts festival (Oct. 4-6 at Watkins), Familiar Relics features more than 30 works that speak to the familiarity and evolution of the book. …more
Chris Cheney of Sawtooth Printhouse created the posters (at left) for the 2012 Handmade & Bound festival, coming up October 4-6 on the Watkins campus. Sawtooth's mission is "to create beautifully crafted, custom designs that represent the history and high quality of traditional printmaking" -- mission accomplished! A limited supply of posters and event T-shirts will be on sale during the festival.

Watkins College of Art, Design & Film has made three faculty appointments for the 2012-2013 academic year, it was announced by Joy McKenzie, interim dean.
Joining as Visiting Faculty are Will Tucker, in the Department of Fine Art; Adán De La Garza, in the Department of Photography; and Sam Dalton, in the Film School.

The artist collective Co. H and Nashville culture magazine Native present a one-night group exhibition, Strange Material, on Friday, August 17, from 6 to 9 p.m. at MOONBASE in Marathon Village.
