Watkins Welcomes 'Modern-day Geppetto' Chris Sickels March 7

Luisiana Mera Earns Top Prize at Currey Student Show

  Luisiana Mera, a sophomore Fine Art major, claimed the top honor at the 2013 Currey Student Juried Show for her colored pencil Self Portrait.  As recipient of the Anny Gowa Purchase Award, which comes with a $500 cash prize, Mera's work will be part of the permanent Watkins collection. A total of eight winners were announced by President Ellen Meyer during a February 7 reception in the Brownlee O. Currey, Jr. Gallery. Students received cash prizes as well as gift certificates courtesy of Plaza Artist Materials and Picture Framing.…more
