Watkins films selected to screen at International Black Film Festival

Alumni Toi Johnson and Michael Cain recently had films selected to screen at the International Black Film Festival in Nashville. Toi Johnson's "Happy Thanksgiving" and Michael Cain's "Mother Daughter" will both screen on Saturday, Oct 3, at noon at Regal Opry Mills #20. Graphic Design pioneer Jane Davis Doggett to speak at Watkins on Sept. 18

Nashville Native and Graphic Design pioneer Jane Davis Doggett will teach a "Master Class" at Watkins on Friday, September 18, at 5pm in Room 205. Free. This event is in partnership with her exhibition at the Tennessee State Museum, which opens September 17 and runs through October 25. Media and Sound Artist John Henry Blatter Artist Lecture this Friday

Watkins is pleased to announce an artist lecture by Media and Sound Artist John Henry Blatter on Friday Sept. 11th at 9am, in the main theater. Blatter’s diverse background includes national and international exhibitions, residencies at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Art and Vermont Studio Center, and a Jacob Javits Fellowship. In addition, he also served as Editor-in-Chief of Daily Constitutional, a publication for the artist’s voice.…more

Fine Arts Alum Amanda Dillingham Awarded Middle TN Art Educator of the Year

Amanda Dillingham, Fine Arts ’05, has been named the Middle Tennessee Art Educator of Year by the Tennessee Art Education Association. Dillingham is currently the Visual Arts Gallery Curator at the Renaissance Center in Dickson. Recent graduate, Daniel Meney, has been juried into Graphis New Talent 2010. An international competition, the Graphis New Talent Annual showcases the best international student work in Design, Photography, and Advertising.
