Sylvie Fortin, a leading contemporary art expert and editor of award-winning ART PAPERS magazine, will be the keynote speaker for Watkins College of Art, Design & Film’s spring 2011 Commencement on Saturday, May 14. The 4th Senior Thesis Exhibition opens Friday, April 22, from 6-9pm featuring the work of Fine Art Major Emily Sue Laird. Laird will present Craftville, the physical manifestation of a dream in the making. Craftville is the name of Laird's recently formed company, whose mission is to 'provide a nest for Nashvillians to create and share their handmade goods'. …more
The Tennessee Spirit Awards were presented last night at the 2011 Nashville Film Festival. The following winning films were both created by alumni from the Watkins Film School.

The Nashville Film Festival is right around the corner, and as always, Watkins is well
represented. Our highlights include:
John Delaney Died Last Night, by Associate Professor Charles T. Kanganis. This is Professor
Kanganis' first short subject film, which has already screened in Los Angeles at the New
Filmmakers Festival Sunset Gower Studios.

Watkins College of Art, Design & Film is pleased to invite the public to the third of five Bachelor of Fine Arts Senior Thesis Exhibitions celebrating the work of students graduating this May. The third show will feature Clayton Lancaster and Sharon Hels. An opening reception will take place on April 15 from 6-9pm in the Brownlee O. Currey, Jr. Gallery at Watkins.
