Pre-College Students Showcase Work on July 29

Watkins College of Art, Design & Film will recognize those students who have completed 2011 Pre-College Program with a reception and exhibit on Friday, July 29, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Brownlee O. Currey, Jr. Gallery. Paintings, drawings and sculpture by the program's fine art students will be on display, with a premiere screening of the film students' short film, "Agoraphobia," set for 6:30 p.m. in the Watkins theater.   Admission is free and open to the public.…more

‘Handmade and Bound’ Festival of Book Arts Unfolds Sept. 30 – Oct. 1

Artists’ books, zines and comics will be celebrated at the first edition of Handmade & Bound Nashville,a book arts festival for the entire family, set for Friday, Sept. 30 – Saturday, Oct. 1, at Watkins College of Art, Design & Film.  All events are free and open to the public.…more

Smile Is Universal Language for Watkins Photography and Nashville Students

Watkins' Photography professors Robin Paris and Joy McKenzie, Photography Lab manager Kristy West and student Mary Lindsey Clark spent an afternoon near the end of the school term at Metro Nashville's International Newcomer Academy (INA), which helps middle and high school students from varying cultures adjust to classrooms in the school system.  The photo pros set up a studio in the schoolyard to take portraits of the 36 students, as a commemorative welcome to their new community. …more

Watkins Appoints Berryman, Kelley and Steele to Board of Trustees (July 7, 2011) – Watkins College of Art, Design & Film has named three new trustees to its board, it was announced by board chair Samuel E. Stumpf, Jr. Joining the Board of Trustees for three-year terms are David H. Berryman, president, Gibson Guitar Corporation; James R. Kelley, partner, Neal & Harwell, PLC; and John M.
