Carl Jung Documentary 'Matter of Heart' Screens April 25 at Watkins

The Watkins student collective Co. H. and the Nashville Psychoanalytic Study Group will present a free screening of "Matter of Heart," a documentary about Swiss psychoanalyst Carl Gustav Jung, on Thursday, April 25, at 6: 30 p.m. in the Watkins Theater.  Producer Michael Whitney will be on hand for a panel discussion.   "Matter of Heart" (1986, 107 min.)…more

Pre-College Film To Screen at Nashville Film Festival April 20

Congratulations to the film students of Watkins' 2012 Pre-College Program for recognition by the Nashville Film Festival. Their 4-minute short, "Lunch Bag Haven," was accepted into the 2013 NFF as part of the Young Filmmakers Showcase.  The film, along with eight others, will be screened on Saturday, April 20, at 10 a.m. at the Green Hills Cinema. Swaney Competition Recognizes Outstanding Talents

Holly Carden's illustrations earn her the prestigious annual honor   Holly Carden, a junior from Smyrna, TN, was awarded the 2013 Robb Swaney Prize for Excellence in Visual Expression during judging held on March 14. Established in 2006 by Mary Jane Swaney in memory of her husband, noted Nashville architect Charles Robb Swaney, the $1,000 cash prize honors a student who produced "visual designs and patterns that spoke to others."…more
