Join the 2008 Interior Design Students in celebrating their annual Senior Exhibit. 121 3rd Ave S. Nashville, TN 37201. Free and open to the public.


May 2008 GraduatesMay, 10, 2008, 11am, Graduation Brunch/Reception, Watkins College of Art, Design & Film
Graduates - you’re invited to a graduation brunch and reception before the ceremony! This is the time to bring your parents and families to the Watkins College campus. Alumni are also invited. A light brunch menu will be provided. Please plan to rsvp your attendees by Tuesday, May 6 at 5pm by emailing Melissa Means directly at mmeans@watkins.edu.


May 10, 2008, 3pm, Graduation, Downtown Presbyterian Church
Graduation speaker, Demetria Kalodimos. Students are asked to arrive at 1:45pm to prepare for line-up and to take the annual graduation photo. The church is located at 154 5th Ave (at the corner of Church and 5th Ave ).

Vanderbilt Student Life Center

Annual fundraiser benefiting Watkins College. Honoring Lain York as Distinguished Artist and Outstanding Art Advocate. BREAKING NEWS: Watkins College President Announces Retirement

Dr. Jim Brooks, President of Watkins College since 2001, has announced his retirement. Now in his eighth year as president of Watkins College, Dr. Jim Brooks has notified the Watkins Commissioners and Trustees of his intention to retire prior to the beginning of the fall 2008 semester. Board chair Sam Stumpf has indicated that a national search for a new president is underway.

In announcing his decision, Brooks expressed appreciation to Board members, faculty, staff, and students. "The years I have spent at Watkins," Brooks stated, "have been fulfilling and exciting…". Read more by clicking here.

Visiting Artist Lecture Series - sponsored by Regions Bank

Watkins College’s Community Education Program and Office of Student Life are pleased to invite the public to an intimate lecture series in the campus theatre by artist Terri Jones, poet David Berman, and performance artist Faith Wilding. These events are sponsored by Regions Bank.

April 4, 10am-5pm, Watkins
College Students Host Yart Sale

Students at Watkins College will host a one-day YART Fest on Friday, April 4. The event will feature one-of-a-kind art items for sale as well as local musical talent and barbeque food. Items for sale will include paintings, sculpture, pottery and photography. Most works are one-of-a-kind and will be for sale for $5-$100. All participating artists are affiliated with Watkins College. All proceeds benefit Watkins College emerging artists and Student Life activities at the college.


BREAKING NEWS: Watkins College of Art, Design & Film Graphic Design students take home honors at mutiple events

Watkins student Tierney Millhollin won a Silver ADDY for her letterhead packageWatkins College students had an outstanding showing at the recent NashvilleAdvertising Federation Student ADDY Awards. Fifty-seven works were selected for inclusion into the show - and 35 of these works came from fifteen Watkins College students.

Senior Rachel Dunagan, with six Student Gold ADDYs and five Student Silver ADDYs won both the MVP Student Award and Best of Show. In addition, Watkins College took home the MVP School award for the most awards overall.

Exhibit runs through March 1 in the Brownlee O. Currey Jr. Gallery on campus.

Juried by Adam McCoy, Assistant Curator of Contemporary Art at Cheekwood.

February 7, 6-8:30 pm, It’s Mine Now: AIGA Nashville presents Dave Plunkert
6-7pm Reception, 7-8:30 Artist Lecture, Watkins College Theatre

David Plunkert is a co-founder of Spur Design. His illustrations have appeared on ad campaigns for Adidas, Gatorade, Motorola, and MTV. His work has been featured in publications including The New York Times, Newsweek, The New Yorker, The Wall Street Journal, and Time. His work has been recognized by Communications Arts, the Society of Illustrators and American Illustration and collected by the Library of Congress as well as museums both nationally and abroad.

The public is invited to this reception and lecture, presented in partnership with AIGA-Nashville and the DISH Student Design Conference

January 25, 1pm, Film Screening, "A Father’s Rights"
Watkins College Theatre

The public is invited to the first public screening of "A Father’s Rights". The film’s producer, director and main actors will be on hand to answer questions about the making of the film immediately following the viewing. Free and open to the public.
