WHO WE ARE

The Writing Center is currently managed by Susannah Felts, a Watkins instructor and freelance editor and writer. Susannah joined the Watkins faculty in fall 2009, teaching in the General Education department. She holds an MFA in Writing from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and a BA in American Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Before coming to Watkins, Susannah taught creative writing and English courses at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Columbia College Chicago, and she worked as an editor at Health magazine. She is the author of a novel, This Will Go Down on Your Permanent Record, published in 2008 by Featherproof Books. She lives in East Nashville with her husband and daughter, and accepts tips and bribes in the form of cupcakes.

Lisa Williams is our backup tutor. While she is the director of the library, she got her start as a writing center tutor. She worked as a tutor for two years while completing a Master's Degree in English. She has also taught English and beginning French classes and is a certified ESL instructor.

As we bring in more tutors, we'll update this page accordingly!  For your basic reference and writing needs, you may also utilize the highly trained library staff.
