1. Who can use the Library?
WAtKins Library Resources may be checked out by Watkins faculty, staff, degree-seeking Students, Alumni and Community education Instructors. Fisk university students may also check out Watkins library materials with a student ID. We apologize, but our Community Education students are welcome to only peruse our materials in the library; they are not allowed to check out materials. See Library staff for more information.
2. How many books and DVDs can i check out and for how long?
Visit our services page for complete circulation information, but you can check out 10 books and 3 DVDs. Books can be borrowed for 3 weeks. Movies have to be returned in a week.
3. What If I can’t get my items back on time?
You don’t have to bring the item back to the library to check out a little longer. Call us at 277-7427 or email [email protected] to renew it for another 3 weeks if it’s a book or a week if it’s a DVD. Course reserve items may have a shorter check out period.
4. What if I’m still late?
Then there’s fines. Books are .10 cents a day. Movies are 1.00 a day. Movies can really add up fast. And if an item is overdue for more than a month, we consider it lost and add the price of the item, and a 40.00 processing fee if the item is still in print (50.00 if it’s out of print and harder to replace) to your student account. A hold will also be placed on your grade. We’ll give you your money back if you find the item and bring it to us, and if it’s just late, fines just keep adding up.
5. How Do I find Books and DVDs?Search the Library’s online catalog to see what is in the collection and use a book’s call number, or a DVD’s title to find it on the shelves. See the video below for a walkthrough on how to use the catalog
