Watkins recognized outstanding work by Interior Design majors during a reception for the 17th Annual Interior Design Student Exhibit on January 24.
Professor and department chair Cheryl Gulley announced the winners in seven design categories and three “Best in Show” selections: Whitney Garnier (Intermediate Presentation Skills and 1st place overall), Reinalisa Santoyo (Lighting Design and 2nd place overall,), Sarah Higdon (Introductory Presentation Skills and 3rd place overall), double winner Emily Hill (Portfolio Design and Commercial Design), Thera Barnes (Residential Design), and Catherine Soudoplatoff (Sustainable Design). Submissions were evaluated on craftsmanship, creativity and digital rendering skills.
The jurors for the student show were interior designers Kim Hunter, Gracie Wachtler, Kylie Davis, and Kim Costner, and architect Zach Provonchee.
The exhibit, featuring two dozen displays and portfolios created since Spring 2013, opened in the Brownlee O. Currey, Jr. Gallery on January 10.
