SUNDRIES, a show by artists and Watkins alumni Mali Hamilton and Tristan Higginbotham, navigates the spaces between objects, their histories, and our attachments to them. This show reflects on the life of objects, their ability to animate our sentiments and desires, and their condition as the residue of their owners and passersby. SUNDRIES consist of defunct items and residues that refer to the past while emitting presence. The objects and drawings presented here engage their shared space and each other through a game of telephone; the meanings of objects shift from work to work as they are filtered through formal processes and changes in context. SUNDRIES is a recollection of surfaces and a language of leftovers, monuments to the inconsequential, insignificant, and irrelevant.
