Common Questions
How will I be paired with roommates? Each student who signs a housing contract for residence at Watkins will receive a roommate interest questionnaire where general habits and interests can be indicated. Every effort will be made to match you up with compatible roommates. Though we do our best, it sometimes happens that roommates are not a good fit upon arrival. In that case, we typically do a room shuffle about 2 weeks in to account for any needed changes.
Is a meal plan option available? No, however a full kitchen with all appliances will be provided. Also, the Watkins Cafe is readily accessible on campus while school is in session.
Will I have cable in my room? Internet, cable TV service and local telephone service will be provided for each student in their individual bedrooms as well as in the living room.
What should I bring at the start of the year? A list will be provided to all students suggesting items that students should bring with them when they move in.
Do I need to live in the residence hall? First-time students who live with parents in the Nashville area can opt out of living in the residence hall, however on campus living is strongly encouraged especially for first time students. All out-of-state students will be required to live in the halls (on a space available basis).
What about security and staffing? Watkins will have 24 hour security available for residents. In addition, Hawkins and Turner Halls are staffed by Resident Assistants who are on hand to serve students with social programs, any questions, or concerns that may arise.
