Job Opportunities
The Career Service Office works to place students in employment opportunities in the visual arts industry to foster the building of students’ resumes prior to graduation. The goal is to integrate work and education to help the student prepare for their careers.
If you are an employer with a paid opportunity in the graphic design industry, the fine arts field, interior design industry, photography or film industry, please click here to submit a job posting.
Each job posting will be reviewed by the Career Service Coordinator and eligible job opportunities will be posted on our website for students and alumni for thirty days. Watkins College of Art, Design & Film reserves the right to reject job postings that are not considered appropriate for a visual arts resume. If you have any questions, please contact the Career Service Coordinator, Iwonka Waskowski at iwonka@watkins.edu
Academic Internships
Academic internships are assigned by the Chair of each respective program at Watkins College of Art, Design & Film. The goal of the academic internship is to allow the student the opportunity to apply their skills to a professional, working environment. The internship is set up with the Chair prior to the start of each semester with an approved professional institution in the visual arts industry. Providing students with the opportunity to experience a professional work environment while they continue developing their skills, is a necessary part of the curriculum at Watkins. Students work in a supervised professional visual arts environment assisting with arts production, administration, outreach, exhibition preparation, art handling, etc. Students will keep a regular work schedule and record of activities, reporting to their advisor. It is required that students work 130 hours (for 3 hours credit) during their academic internship. This is an academic course that the student at the junior/senior level registers for with approval by the Department Chair of their program. If you are an employer with an opportunity for an academic internship for students of Watkins College of Art, Design & Film, please send your requests to the Chair of the respective program.
