Watkins College of Art, Design & Film offers a studio-based curriculum, supported by a strong academic foundation. The faculty and staff are committed to a learning-centered environment that challenges the student to engage the mind, train the eye and cultivate talent and skill into an active realization of creative potential.

BACHELOR OF FINE ARTS DEGREES

Nationally accredited, Watkins College offers four-year Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in Film, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Interior Design and Photography; a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art and a Professional Certificate in Film.

All degree-seeking students at Watkins complete a core of required and elective courses in the General Education program consisting of a diverse series of classes in the humanities, arts and sciences. The General Education program insures that students develop skills as writers, speakers and thinkers and gives them a broad understanding of major cultural and intellectual traditions.

Students are required to complete a series of fundamental courses in the visual arts that provides them with the foundation they need to pursue their elected major in filmmaking, fine art, graphic design, interior design or photography.

BACHELOR OF ARTs DEGREE

The Bachelor of Arts program at Watkins is structured around a broadly based framework in the humanities from which students can pursue a concentration in one or more of the disciplines represented by the BFA degree programs.

CERTIFICATE IN FILM

The Certificate program exists for those who already hold a bachelor’s degree or have substantial professional experience in the media arts. Students are required to take a film foundation, and then may choose electives in the areas of Producing, Screenwriting, Directing, Cinematography and Editing. Those applicants lacking an undergraduate degree must have approval from the Film School Chair to be admitted into the program.
