The Community Education Program at Watkins sets the stage for people of all ages to learn the process of creating art in a variety of fascinating media. Classes, taught by talented practicing artists, help students gain an understanding of their chosen medium. Emphasis is placed on both the finished product and the process of thinking, designing, communicating and creating.

Youth are introduced to art fundamentals through drawing, painting, working with clay and other techniques. Teens learn about past and present artists while expanding upon their artistic skills. Youth and teen programs are offered during the summer. Students can join our Summer of the Arts program which is offered during the month of June. For teens ages 15-18 interested in pursuing a career in the arts we offer the Pre-College Program, a three-week intensive during the month of July that allows participants to experience the life and culture of art college.
Adults have the opportunity to explore areas of specific interest, allowing their creative voice to finally be heard. Classes and workshops are offered during the fall, spring and summer semesters.
