The Community Education Program at Watkins sets the stage for people of all ages to learn the process of creating art in a variety of fascinating media. Classes, taught by talented practicing artists, help students gain an understanding of their chosen medium. Emphasis is placed on both the finished product and the process of thinking, designing, communicating and creating.

Summer schedule and registration will be available by April 1.

Youth are introduced to art fundamentals through drawing, painting, working with clay and other techniques. Teens learn about past and present artists while expanding upon their artistic skills. Youth and teens programs include Saturday Classes in the fall and spring semesters. In the summer students can join our Summer of the Arts program which is offered 4 different weeks throughout the summer months. In addition, for teens we offer weekly After School Classes as well as the Pre-College Program, a three-week summer program for highly motivated high school students to experience the life and culture of art college.

Adults have the opportunity to explore areas of specific interest, allowing their creative voice to finally be heard. Classes and workshops are offered during the fall, spring and summer semesters.

Outreach events are also an integral part of the Watkins Community Education Program. We strive to engage and inspire our local community by offering special free events such as Visiting Artist lectures, Open House Days, and Teacher In- Service Training.
